Welcome! We get a lot of great questions about our handmade goat milk skin care. Here are the ones we hear most often. If you’re curious about specific ingredients, please see our Ingredients page.
General Questions
Q: Are your products cruelty‑free?
A: Yes. We do not test on animals. We love our critters!! Â
Q: Are any products vegan?
A: Many are vegetarian; items containing milk are not vegan. Beeswax may be present in some balms/deodorants—check the product page.
Q: Do you use fragrance oils or essential oils?
A: We never use fragrance oils, only essential oils. However, we offer unscented products that contain no essential oils. Here is an article with more information if you are interested.
Q: I have nut allergies. Which products are nut‑oil‑free?
A: Our Hand & Body Lotion has sweet almond. Some other products have shea butter, but please check each product’s ingredient list.
Q: What’s the shelf life? How should I store products?
A: For best freshness, use within 12–18 months. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep bars on a draining dish between uses to extend life.
Q: How long does a bar last?
A: Typically 3–4 weeks with daily use, longer if allowed to dry between uses and not left in standing water.
Q: Can I use the bar on my face?
A: Yes—I do and many customers do. Choose a bar suited to your skin type and patch test if sensitive. Here are some recommended face products including soaps.
Q: Is your deodorant aluminum‑free? What if I’m sensitive to baking soda?
A: Our deodorant is aluminum‑free and no baking soda! We use bentonite clay.
Q: Will natural shampoo work in hard water?
A: It can, though rinsing thoroughly helps. You may use a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse (1–2 tsp in a cup of water) may improve feel and shine. Personally, I do not care for using this rinse, but it may be my water, so experiment.
Q: Do your products help with eczema, psoriasis, or acne?
A: Many customers with sensitive or troubled skin enjoy our gentle formulas, but we can’t diagnose or treat conditions. Patch test and consult your healthcare provider for medical advice. Here are products we recommend for eczema, psoriasis or acne.
Q: What is Optiphen? Why use a preservative?
A: It’s a paraben‑ and formaldehyde‑free preservative we use at a low level (~0.9%) in lotions and moisturizers made with fresh goat milk to keep them safe and stable.
About our soap and ingredients
Q: Is your soap gluten‑free?
A: Yes. Our soaps do not contain gluten. Our Honey and Oats has organic oats, so if you consider oats as having gluten, avoid that soap.
Q: What makes goat milk skin care different?
A: Goat milk is naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, and fats that help cleanse gently and leave skin feeling soft and moisturized. Here is more information.
Q: What’s the cleaning agent in your soap?
A: Soap—just real soap. We make true, traditionally saponified soap, not synthetic detergent bars, so cleaning agent is needed.
Q: Does your soap have lye in it?
A: Finished soap does not contain lye, but it’s made with lye. Lye is essential for saponification—the reaction that turns oils and milk into soap. When the reaction is complete, no lye remains.
Q: Is your soap harsh? My grandma’s was.
A: Ours isn’t. Goat milk soap is especially gentle and soothing, even for sensitive skin and when made properly, soap should never be harsh.
Q: Does your soap lather?
A: Yes! You’ll get a creamy, silky lather without artificial lathering agents, just natural oils.
Q: Do you use palm oil?
A:Â We use responsibly sourced palm oil certified by RSPO.

Making and materials
Q: What base do you use?
A: None—we make everything from scratch in small batches, starting with oils and fresh goat milk.
Q: Do you really make all this?
A: Yes! Every batch is handmade. We’ve grown over time so now I have in house help, but each product is made with care, just like I have always done.
Q: I’m sensitive to beeswax. Which products are beeswax‑free?
A: Our bar soaps, liquid soaps, and Hand & Body Lotion do not contain beeswax. (Some balms and deodorants do—check each product label.)
Product‑specific
Q: Do you make a shampoo?
A: Yes—our goat milk shampoo is available. If you’re new to natural shampoo, give your hair a little time to adjust. About our Shampoo
Q: About your deodorant: will the clay color stain clothes?
A: On white shirts, some people notice temporary discoloration that washes out easily; it hasn’t been an issue on darker fabrics. Results can vary by person and laundry routine.
Natural soap quirks
Q: Why does my soap feel moist when I haven’t used it?
A: That’s “glycerin dew.” Natural glycerin attracts moisture from the air, so tiny water droplets can form on the surface. It will dry once it is out of the humidity. It’s normal and harmless. Just slightly annoying in my opinion
Shipping
Q: Which shipping method should I choose?
A: Ground Advantage is the most popular and budget‑friendly. Priority Mail typically arrives faster (2–3 business days on average, not guaranteed). You’ll see estimated delivery at checkout.
