About Us
Our Mission
Our business is about people. How can we make a difference in someone’s life? Sometimes it’s the littlest things that stay with us and make the biggest difference in our lives. We may not even notice and that’s ok.
How can skin care make a difference in someone’s life? Well maybe it will or maybe not, but if we feel good about ourselves, we are likely to be more of who we are. It is our goal to produce products that will help your skin to become glowing and healthy, naturally!
Providing a positive, uplifting environment to work in is very important! We want people to enjoy working for us whether on the farm or the skin care business!
Of course, we have a dairy goat farm! Animals are very therapeutic and our goats love to interact with people. We like to work with young people and private visits are offered by appointment.
Overall, our goal is to offer you products that are:
- Good for your skin, which will make a difference for you.
- Produced in an encouraging, uplifting environment.
- Made with milk from our goats that love people and will give hugs (or at least nibbles) to anyone who wants them!
Why buy from us
How we Started
Our passion for our business stems from a couple of different things. First of all, I had a desire for our children grow up on a farm. We had some cattle, but my passion was goats. Goats are smaller and easier for children to work with and since it would mostly be me and them doing this, I decided goats were a good choice. That may have been a bit selfish, but it worked out well! It led to many life experiences, both sad and wonderful, and we still have a nice herd to produce the milk for us! (Go Here if you want a more detailed story!)
Since we had plenty of milk from the goats, we ventured into soap making. This was not such a popular thing back in 1999. No YouTube. Either read a book with instructions or try until I got it right. I did not read the instructions, but I did learn a lot!
Our soap making helped pay for the goats and gave the girls and I bit of experience in the world of being an entrepreneur. We worked on additional goat milk products and the hobby slowly grew into a business with a number of products that we are very proud of.
Our love for animals spread into developing a line of skin care products that has helped many have healthy, glowing skin with clean, natural ingredients. Our goats are fed non-GMO/organic feed and hay/pasture, plus we use natural and organic ingredients in our products. This is very important to us and we aren’t willing to compromise!
It is important to us that we support local businesses! This means those in Ohio as well as the USA. The ingredients we use are from sustainable, ethical sources which we purchase from local suppliers. Of course, the milk is from our farm. You will notice that we offer several products that are not skin care. These are local artists that I like and trust.
Boxes and most bags are made in the USA. Any paper for packaging is USA made, and recycled. Plastic packaging is saved and donated to us so that it can be reused. The containers used in packaging our products are produced in the USA, PLUS, they are recyclable.
We are working hard to do our part for the environment, so please recycle and reuse!

Our Packaging and the Environment
Our Packaging and the Environment - How we are doing our part
Ok, so there is a lot of talk about taking care of the environment. I guess I will jump in with what our company does.
Our soaps come in a box type wrap. This covers more of the soap for your safety. They all have as little packaging as possible which is healthy for the soap (it can “breathe”) and the environment. No plastic!
While at first glance, glass seems to be reasonable choice for our other products, it is very impractical for what we do. Heavy to ship, easily broken, etc. Then there is tin. Lighter, doesn’t break, but not easy to use for lotions or creams.
This leads me to the packaging that I have chosen. The Hand and Body Lotion as well as the Facial Creams are packaged in PET containers. These are safe for you and can be recycled. They do not hold up under heat so they are generally not handy to reuse for products. The facial cream containers may be nice to hand wash and use for storing small items or carrying in a purse with something small you need. Maybe aspirin or jewelry?
The white packaging that I use for my other products is polypropylene. The name sounds scary, but it’s not. It is safe for food and cosmetics and it can be recycled as well as reused. They are light weight and affordable, which keeps the cost down for you. I do not refill these containers, but you can! Be creative. They are durable and can tolerate heat so see what you can come up with!
All that said, the rest is up to you! Any packaging that I would choose would ultimately be in your hands for disposal. Be creative or recycle! It is easy to just drop it in the trash can, but with a few more steps these items can go to the proper place where they can be recycled and not end up in a place they shouldn’t.
There are many things in our world today that can destroy our world. Together we can make a difference!

FAQ
FAQ We get lots of questions about our products so here are some
Over the years we have had a number of common questions. Hopefully this will answer questions you may have also. If you would like more information on the ingredients we use, here is a link to that page.
Q - Is our soap gluten free?
A - Yes! Here is a video explaining more. Gluten free soap
Q - What makes goat milk skin care different?
A - Goat Milk has a number of vitamins and qualities that are fantastic for our skin. Here is a video with more!
Q - What is the cleaning agent?
A - Soap! Just soap! Our soap is true soap. Most commercial brands are not. They are a mixture of synthetic ingredients so they need a cleaning agent. Here is more on that!
Q - Does your soap have lye in it?
A - A good question and one that I hear a lot! The short answer is no, but it is made with lye! I know, confusing! Here is a video with the explanation.
Q - Can I use this on oily skin?
A- Yes! We have several products that are especially helpful for oily skin. Here is more information.
Q - Why does my soap feel moist when I have not used it?
A - We call that "sweating" but it is not actually coming from within the soap. The natural glycerin attracts the moisture from the air and causes water droplets to form.
Q - What base do you use?
A - We don't use one! All of our products are made from scratch. No melt and pours, and no base. Individual ingredients added one at a time and mixed together! Here is a video explaining why we do not use a base.
Q - I am sensitive to Bee's Wax. Which of your products do not contain bee's wax?
A- Bar soaps, liquid soaps as well as Hand & Body Lotion contain no bee's wax.
Q - Why should I use your products and which one should I choose?
A - Well... I guess because they are good! Seriously though, here is a link to my answer in detail. Which Product is for What?
Q - Do you make a shampoo?
A - Yes!! Here it is and here us some information about it.
Q – Is your soap made with lye
A – Yes! All soap is! Melt and pour as well as glycerin soaps are all made with lye. No soap is soap without it. Lye creates the chemical reaction that causes the saponification process to take place. (Here is more about lye)
Q – Is the soap harsh? Grandma’s was.
A – No! Goat Milk soap is particularly gentle. Very soothing for sensitive skin. Here is more about Goat Milk Soap and Lotions.
Q – Does your soap lather?
A – Yes! No artificial lathering agents are added or needed. Our soaps have a silky luxurious lather that works great with a cloth, hands or a body buffer.
Q – Are your products safe for babies?
A – Yes! Again, the fact that we use goat milk and natural ingredients make our products great for all skin types, including babies. You may try the Unscented products if you are unsure how sensitive your baby is.
Q - Will these products get rid of wrinkles?
A - No guarantees, but if you use our soap along with a moisturizer, you will have healthy, fresh, hydrated skin which will definitely look better! See more in my blog about Younger Looking Skin.
Q - What is Optiphen?
A - You will find this in the ingredients list for all of my moisturizers and lotions. Since I am using fresh goat milk, in need to use a preservative. I have chosen this one because it takes a very small amount (.9 %), there is NO paraben or formaldehyde and it works!
Q - Do you really make all this?
A - Yes I/we do. One batch at a time, but we have grown, so I now have someone who helps make all of the products. And my husband does most all of the cooking! Go to my blog on this for more information and a video! Go here!
Q - I have a question regarding the deodorant. I just purchased it at the Local Roots. You mentioned the color because of the clay. Will it stain my clothes?
A - The feedback I received is that on white shirts they noticed that there was discoloration, but it did not stain. It washed out easily. The color was not noticeable on the outside of the shirt. I have not seen any discoloration on my husbands shirts or mine though. Maybe it depends on the person.
Q - What method of shipping should I choose?
A - Of course, this is up to you but here is what I know. Priority mail is a bit more expensive and promises to TRY to deliver within 2 days. This is business days only and sometimes other factors can cause it to take longer. USPS does not guarantee 2 day delivery. First class is less expensive and generally has 2-5 day delivery. This varies according to the distance the package needs to travel. You will see what the delivery estimate is at check out so you can choose.
